70% of all carts are abandoned and reasons are broad
Everyone of us has abandoned a shopping cart at least once in our lives. It is normal, but quite a big problem for e-commerce shop owners.
Let’s say that you’re on Instagram browsing and an ad comes up offering a good discount, then you decide to on it and check the items and prices. You like a few of them and add them to your cart. Now is the time for finishing the check-out process and actually buying them. So here is when you face most of the frequent problems, like:
1. LONG CHECKOUT PROCESSES
The first step before paying for chosen goods is by writing down your information. One of the most frequent reasons, for customers leaving a store, is asking them to make an account. Almost 37% of customers leave their carts full because of that.
2. ADDITIONAL COSTS AND SHIPPING
Over 60% of people wouldn’t buy a product if there are extra taxes that they find out over the process. Or It is frustrating when you are at the checkout, but the online store provides only one shipping option or worse – only one payment method.
3. LACK OF WISH SECTION
Let’s say that you find the item needed, however, it seems overpriced, and you want to check other online stores too. You want to save the it for later and look for the “Wish button”. There is none. This is how your possible future purchase ends in an abandoned cart.
4. DECLINED DEBIT CARD
If the online store is not working properly or bank card authentication seems unreliable, you, the customer, will leave the cart full and exit the store. There are several reasons why a website declined a credit card. The most common ones are, the limit was exceeded, a suspicious charge was made, the card information was incorrect or the card has expired.
5. SIZES
Say you’re shopping for a new pair of pants. Online you can’t try them on first and see if they fit before you buy them. This will scare away a great deal of customers. They go through the checkout all the way to the payment form, and then, as they’re pulling out their credit card they start thinking “what if they don’t fit me?”. This fear is obviously most prevalent to products where the aesthetics or physical form are of great importance.

What about you?? Are you impulsive and buy the first thing you like, or you rather check all the other options online? xoxo
